Founded and became Managing Director of The Academy for Chief Executives

Built it to have 400 Managing Directors in 40 groups across the country

1992 to 1996

Became a group Chairman with Vistage and eventually was running 4 groups of 10 Managing Directors, coaching each one. I trained in America by the holding company

1973 to 1992

Joined H Goldman Group as a main board Director and was part of the team to take them public.

Purchased the division that I became Managing Director

Called Claremont Cash and Carry. In 1981 the business went into voluntary receivership.

We started again as Tredegar cash and carry Ltd and Tredegars Home Video Ltd, which was sold to Hillsdown Holdings a large public company. Both of which I was joint founder and Managing Director.

During this period, I became Chairman of the Landmark group a multibillion buying group in the food cash and carry industry which is still operating today

1965 to 1973

Following a 3-year stint in the Royal Air force I joined The John Lewis Partnership on the junior circuit and then became the manager of various departments. It was during this period where I learnt all my people skills.

1960 to 1965

The Managing Director of Peter Jones the store I worked in left and joined Bookers Bros a large public company. He called me asked if I would like to join him and be the buyer for a new department store, all products. I joined him and we opened several stores and bought a small chain of specialist retail shops. During this time, I was asked to go to Trinidad and Guyana to report on the failing stores there. My first consultancy at 30. I finally became joint Managing Director of the group and helped Bookers to sell the business.

1936 to 1965

I was born in 1936 during the war years with very little education and did several jobs and then decided to join the RAF for three years prior to being officially called up.

Running concurrently with this work I did the following:

1. Became an Investors in people assessor
2. Became a Marriage guidance counsellor for Relate
3. Became one of the top 100 entrepreneurs in the Sunday times list
4. Became a master practitioner in Neuro Linguistic Programming
5. Wrote a book “The entrepreneur Within.”
6. Became a Director of the Central Middlesex Hospital trust.
7. Run several successful consultancy projects as follows:

• Helping a 12-partner accountancy practice that was in conflict to be able to become highly profitable
• Helping a family company that made high quality picture framing become more efficient.
• Helping a family importing (Gifts from china and India) company where the family were conflicted to become successful.
• Helping a family importing, (plasma) screens) deal with conflict within the family become more successful
• Helping a 6-partner firm of lawyers become more creative and modern which resulted with a major successful takeover.
• Helping a major importer and manufacturer in China to become more efficient and highly profitable
